When I get bored, I either think, game, or use YouTube to distract myself. Agreed days ago I regained a distracting hobby, which I will come back to, Anyway, the topic I'm on at the moment is the gaming portion of my hobbies, mainly TTRPGs, or for those unenlightened few, Table Top Roll Playing Games. Such games include DnD, Shadowrun, World of Darkness (on which this lovely site's lore and creatures are loosely based), GERPS, Star Wars: Saga Edition (which is basically DnD with The Force, lightsabers, blasters, and Starships instead of magic, swords, bows, and dragons), and finally my current obsession, Gamma World (A slightly more complicated D100 based game that resembles the Fallout series in that it's based in a post nuclear apocalypse Earth; in which I am currently playing a mutant humanoid, human sized rabbit, yes i said rabbit, that has a mutation that lets him turn some of the most basic metals into rubber at will, has a natural intelligence rivaling Tony Stark's, who by the was was added into the game by our DM, is a medic, a geneticist, is dabbling in both Quantum and Temporal Physics, oh and has a damaged but still fairly intact tether to the astral plane granting him, extremely rare, in my character's case an 11% Chance that was left up to a Dice roll, access to Arcane magic. Our DM is a little insane I think. as not all these developments where planned, and we haven't even quite reached the half-way mark. according to the DM.)
Previously before my phone lost connection and wrecked a good 200+ words of more exposition, I had explained that both Gamma World and DnD are owned by TSR, and where created by two of the biggest nerds ever, Gary Gygax and Ed Greenwood, who, being inspired probably by Tolkien's works, as well as the folk lore Tolkien based Middle Earth on, not only laid the ground work for things like DragonLance and a million other things we nerds love. Gygax and Greenwood also combined the two games in question. Charcters in a DnD Campaign with the right circumstances, end up on the post apocalyptic Gamma World and vise-versa. But 'Why' You may ask, ' are you going to the trouble of typing this all up twice, since the first draft was lost do to my phone's Firefox Browser crashing, well one, I'm bored and have nothing better to do, than wait for replies, and two I want to start a conversation. oh and because that new hobby i Mention earlier is Typing out my thoughts, will probably commit most of these efforts to my account's journal.
A conversation about what you may ask. well about spells of course. Unnecessary ramblings aside I wanted to discuss Magic and it's functionality in Avalon. The Fae are involved so there is their magic, their are wizards so their is arcane Magic once I get a good amount of RP I'm considering creating druid which has magic and power granted by Nature, and it's spirits, rather than learning and books, much like the Fae themselves.
I wanted to ask what is magic to you your characters, is it DnD based like what I'm doing with my characters. I'm curious to see what answers people have.
